दुईदेशीय खगोल विज्ञानको विकासका लागि संझौता

दक्षिणपूर्वी एसियाली राष्ट्र ब्रुनेईमा नेपालमा अभ्यास गरिएका खगोलविज्ञान संबन्धि गतिविधि प्रचारप्रसार गर्न र नेपालमा यस क्षेत्रमा काम गर्दा संकलित ज्ञान हस्तान्तरण गर्दै खगोलविज्ञानको विकासका लागि सहकार्य मार्फत् अगाडि बढ्न नेपाल एष्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाईटी (नासो) तथा ब्रुनेई दारुस्सलाम एस्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाइटी (पाब्ड) बीच पन्ध्र वर्षको लागि सहमति भएको जानकारी गराउँन पाउँदा निकै हर्षित छौं।


गत साउन ३२ गते सोमबार आयोजित भर्चुअल भेलामा दुवैसंस्थाका अधिकारीहरूको उपस्थितिमा नेपाल एष्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाईटीको तर्फबाट संस्थाका अध्यक्ष सुरेश भट्टराई तथा ब्रुनेई दारुस्सलाम एस्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाइटीका तर्फबाट संस्थाका अध्यक्ष अवाङ् हाजी महादी बिन हाजी ताहिरले संझौतापत्रमा हस्ताक्षर गर्नुभयो।

सहमति अनुसार दुवै संस्थाले विभिन्न चार मुख्य क्षेत्रको प्रचारप्रसार तथा कार्यान्वयनका लागि काम गर्नेछन्।
  • विभिन्न तथ्याङ्क केन्द्रित नागरिक विज्ञान परियोजनाहरू आयोजना गर्ने
  • खगोलविज्ञान संबन्धि दुईदेशीय सञ्चार संजालको समन्वय गर्ने
  • यस्ता गतिविधिहरूलाई कार्यान्वयन गर्न आवश्यक कोष संकलन गर्ने
  • दुवै देशमा खगोलविज्ञानको विकासलाई टेवा पुर्याउन आपसी हितका अन्य क्षेत्रहरुमा सहकार्य गर्ने
यस सहमतिले दुवै देशमा बलियो वैज्ञानिक समुदाय निर्माण गर्न, खोज अनुसन्धानको वातावरण बनाउन, विभिन्न तालिम तथा अन्तरक्रिया कार्यक्रमहरू मार्फत् दुईदेशीय क्षमता विकास गर्न तथा संयुक्त खगोलविज्ञान परियोजनाहरू संचालन गर्न भूमिका खेल्ने आशा लिईएको छ।
नेपालमै बसेर नेपाली तथा विश्वसमुदायको लागि काम गर्ने हाम्रो अभियान जारी छ। यो कार्य कठिन भएता पनि असम्भव भने होइन भन्ने संदेश देश तथा विदेशमा रहनुभएका सम्पूर्ण नेपालीहरूमाझ व्यक्त गर्न चाहन्छौं। नेपाल एष्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाईटीको टोलीलाई यदि राज्यको साथ, समर्थन तथा सहयोग भए विश्वमानचित्रमा खगोलविज्ञानको क्षेत्रमा नेपालको विशेष/छुट्टै छवि बनाउने हाम्रो अभियानलाई द्रुतगतिमा अगाडि बढाउन सकिने कुरा पनि यसै प्रेस विज्ञप्ति मार्फत् व्यक्त गर्न चाहन्छौं।

पुरस्कार वितरण कार्यक्रम संपन्न

कोभिड-१९ को कारण रोकिएको 'वर्ड स्पेस विक' संबन्धि विद्यालयतहका विद्यार्थी लक्षित दुई कार्यक्रमको पुरस्कार वितरण कार्यक्रम आज हाम्रो बत्तीसपुतलीस्थित कार्यलयको प्राङ्गणमा सम्पन्न भयो। कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित विजेताहरुलाई प्रतियोगिता अनुसार पुरस्कार, प्रमाणपत्र, नगद, टेलिस्कोप तथा पदक प्रदान गरियो।


सन् २०१९ मा 'द मुन: गेटवे टु द स्टार्स' थिममा संचालित तेस्रो राष्ट्रिय अन्तरिक्ष चित्रकला प्रतियोगितामा प्रथम स्थान हासिल गर्न सफल क्याम्पियन स्कुल, लगनखेलकी सुश्री सुएन भट्टराईले टेलिस्कोप, पटक एवं प्रमाणपत्र प्राप्त गरिन्। समारोहमा उपस्थित तथा प्रतियोगितामा तृतीय हुन सबल द सेलिब्रेसन को-एड स्कुल, जोरपाटीका श्री अमन बस्नेतले प्रमाणपत्र एवं पदक तथा सान्त्वना पुरस्कार प्राप्त गर्न सफल श्री पञ्चकन्या माध्यमिक विद्यालय, छाउनीकी सुश्री सरिता रम्तेलले प्रमाणपत्र एवं गिफ्ट ह्याम्पर प्राप्त गरे। त्यसैगरी सन् २०२० मा 'स्याटेलाइट्स ईम्प्रुभ लाईफ' थिममा संचालित चौथो राष्ट्रिय अन्तरिक्ष चित्रकला प्रतियोगितामा प्रथम स्थान हासिल गर्न सफल किड्स लर्निङ् स्कुल, कुमारीस्थानकी सुश्री रिना चौधरीले टेलिस्कोप, पटक एवं प्रमाणपत्र तथा द्वितीय हुन सफल बुढानिलकण्ठ स्कुल, बुढानिलकण्ठकी सुश्री निति पछाईले प्रमाणपत्र एवं पटक प्राप्त गरिन्।

कार्यक्रमको दोस्रो भागमा सन् २०१९ एवं २०२० मा संचालित राष्ट्रिय अनलाइन अन्तरिक्ष वक्तृत्वकला प्रतियोगिताहरुलाई सम्मान गर्ने तय भएको थियो। कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित दोस्रो राष्ट्रिय अनलाईन अन्तरिक्ष वक्तृत्वकला प्रतियोगिता २०२० मा द्वीतीय हुन सफल ट्रिनिटी कलेज, डिल्लीबजारका श्री रोहन भट्टराईले नगद रू पांच हजार, पदक तथा प्रमाणपत्र प्राप्त गरे।

पुरस्कार वितरण कार्यक्रममा विविध कारणले उपस्थित हुन असमर्थ विजेताहरूले हाम्रो कार्यालयमा आफ्नो संपर्क गरी आफ्नो पुरस्कार संकलन गर्न सक्नेछन्।

राष्ट्रिय अन्तरिक्ष चित्रकला प्रतियोगिताको लागि टेलिस्कोप प्रायोजन गर्नुहुने मेक इन्जिनियरीङ्गका श्री अर्केत महर्जनज्युले यस्ता किसिमका प्रतियोगिताले विद्यार्थीको प्रतिभालाई उजागर गर्न टेवा पुर्याउने बताउनुभयो। कार्यक्रममा श्री पञ्चकन्या माध्यमिक विद्यालय, छाउनीकी प्रधानाध्यापक श्रीमती रुपा मानन्धर, द सेलिब्रेसन को-एड स्कुल, जोरपाटीका उप-प्रधानाध्यापक श्री सागर दाहालज्युले नेपाल एष्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाईटीसंगको पहिलो भेटको संझना तथा यसले विद्यालय तहका विद्यार्थी तथा शिक्षकका संचालन गर्ने कार्यक्रमहरुको प्रशंसा गर्नुभयो। कार्यक्रममा 'वर्ड स्पेस विक' का लागि नेपाल संयोजक तथा नेपाल एस्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाइटीकी निर्देसक/परियोजना संयोजक सुश्री मनिषाद्वाले विजयी संपूर्णमा बधाई दिदै सन् २०२१ को लागि यी दुई प्रतियोगिताको आवेदन छिट्टै खुलाईने बताउनुभयो। साथै उहाँले यो वर्षको थिम 'विमिन इन स्पेस' रहेको जानकारी गराउनुभयो।

सन् १९९९ मा संयुक्त राष्ट्रसंघले घोषणा गरेसंगै सन २००० देखी विश्वव्यापी रुममा अक्टोबर ४-१० वा सेरोफेरोमा मनाउन थालिएको वर्ड स्पेस विक कार्यक्रम नेपाल एष्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाईटीले आफ्नो स्थापनाकाल सन् २००७ देखी हरेक वर्ष विभिन्न कार्यक्रम आयोजना गर्दै राष्ट्रियस्तरमा मनाउँदै आइरहेको छ।

पुरस्कार वितरण कार्यक्रममा उपस्थित संपूर्ण विजेता तथा अभिभावकज्युहरू प्रति हार्दिक धन्यवाद् तथा बधाई दिन चाहन्छौं ।

सन २०२० मा सञ्चालित ‘चौथो नासो विज्ञानमा महिला पुरस्कार २०२०’ को व्यवसायिक तथा विद्यार्थी विधामाको निर्णय नतिजा सार्वजनिक गदछौं । देश तथा विदेशबाट प्राप्त ५० आवेदकमध्ये अन्तिम १८ प्रतियोगीहरुलाई निर्णायकज्यूहरुले मुल्यांकन गर्नुभएको थियो भने ‘पब्लिक च्वाईस अवार्ड’ को लागि प्रतियोगीहरुको भिडियो प्रस्तुती नेपाल एष्ट्रोनोमिकल सोसाईटी (नासो) को अधिकारिक युट्युब च्यानल मार्फत् सार्वजनिक गर्दै जनमत

Project Terranaut is Live for Nepal now!

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) in association with Terraztra Space Exploration is pleased to announce Project Terranaut, a global outreach initiative providing an opportunity to 14 people to train like a Yuri Gagarin in Russia and one of the best performer to go to Edge of the Space for free, in Nepal! The pre-registration is now available at www.terraztra.space and will remain open till July 31, 2017 and free to all Nepalese.  



We signed an MoU with Terraztra Space Exploration to select top three scorers from Nepal to be trained like a cosmonaut in Russia during FIFA World Cup 2018. The training program will be of 10-25 days. Details will be available after the final selection.

How to participate in the program?
·         Pre-register at www.terraztra.space by july 31, 2017
·         Download Mobile App that wil be released on October 4, 2017 and participate in the different contest available!
·         Top three scorers will be selected to participate in the astronaut training in Russia during FIFA World Cup 2018

Who are eligible?
·         Anyone who are between 18-65 years of age
·         Must be a Nepali citizen

Among the fourteen selected participants, one will be choosen to fly to the 'Edge of Space'.

3rd National Call for Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition 2015!

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) is pleased to announce 3rd National Call Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition 2015- Nepal today! With the success of our logo competition in 2013 and 2014 which provided hundreds of designers to share their creativity with us, we are looking forward to more creations this year from both science and non science background enthusiastic people. Interested amateur/professional designers can submit their logo/s to info.naso[at]gmail.com by 5:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2015.

What is Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition?
It is an annual competition run by NASO in order to provide national platform for creative designers and promote astronomy Olympiad program in Nepal. The best logo will be used as a logo as an official logo of the National Astronomy Olympiad- Nepal of the Olympiad year. For e.g. the best logo from 2013 logo competition was the official logo for first National Astronomy Olympiad 2014- Nepal.

Who can participate in the Competition?
Anyone who wants to share their creativity with us wish to get national and international exposure can submit their work following the rules and regulations provided by the organizer.

What are the rules and regulations of the competition?
Please carefully read and follow the bellow mentioned rules and regulations in order to submit your work for the competition.
  • The logo must include the following themes: ASTRONOMY, EDUCATION & NEPAL and should reflect Third National Astronomy Olympiad 2016
  • Maximum of three designs can be submitted by a person. Submitted designs must contain the original idea/creation of the designer. Logos must be created in full colour in JPG formats. The logo specification is width 600 pixels
  • Each design must contain a description of no more than 200 words. Design without description will not be accepted for the competition
  • The deadline for submission is 5:00 PM, Friday, September 25, 2015. Submission after the deadline will not be entertained.
  • The submission must be done through email: info.naso[at]gmail.com
  • The decision of the evaluation committee will be final. The copy-write of the selected logo will be of NASO only

 What are the benefits of participating in the competition?
  • The best three logos will be awarded cash prize of NRs 5,000/-, NRs 1000/- and NRs 500/- respectively as well as certificates
  • Winners will get global exposure which may be instrumental for their career development
Selected designers will be contacted via telephone, so please make sure you provide us your contact number/s while submitting your works to us.

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) invites you to participate in #NameExoWorld Contest and Cosmic Light, two major International Astronomical Union (IAU) projects to celebrate International Year of Light 2015 (IYL2015).

What is NameExoWolds?
It is a global contest where everyone can participate to propose the name of the ExoWorlds. NASO announces winners of National Astronomy Olympiad 2015-Logo Competition

If you are waiting to know who bagged this year's National Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition, the time for your wait is over! Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) announces winners of Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015- Logo Competition held during September 25- November 7, 2014.

The winning logos for National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015) are:

First Winner at National astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015)-Logo Competition, Designer: Yonjan
Mr. Yonjan Jensun, the first prize winner of the competition ,  after the announcement says, 'I am very thankful towards Nepal Astronomy Society (NASO) for selecting my design as the first winner. It is a great feeling to be part of NASO through my artwork. I hope this might help inspire other youths to be involved in NASO by giving their time for such logo competition, or even volunteer at the NASO Annual Olympiad. National Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition is a great way to give a chance for emerging young designers to promote their work in Nepal. It also helps to spread word about NASO and their works for promoting astronomy in Nepal since 1980s.'


He will be donating the prize to Maya Universe Academy at Damauli, Nepal. Maya Universe Academy is a youth movement to provide free education in rural Nepal. 

Second Winner at National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015) - Logo Competition

Mr. Shankar Rai, who bagged second position says, 'At the very first beginning when I was participating in this competition, I didn't know whether I become winner? Apparently, my only intention was just to give you my creativity. But eventually it got me stand at second position which is not a small achievement either. If such platform are keep on giving to the youth like us, it doesn't let our creativity and skill die.So, once again it is my great honor to be the second winner.May your effort always encourages youths.'



Third Winner at National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015) - Logo Competition

Mr. Raj Khadgi who is the third winner of the competition highlighted the importance of such competition to encourage youths to showcase their skills and creativity. He says,  'This is my great experience being part of this national level  logo competition. And achieving  third position is really a wonderful moment for me. This kind of competition plays an important role to encourage the growing youths to present their skills and creativity. I want to  thank Nepal Astronomy Society for acknowledging our creativity and hope for such kind of activities in near future also.'

The first, second and third winners will cash prize of NRs. 5,000/- , NRs. 1,000/- and NRs. 500 /- respectively along with certificates and token of love during Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 in Nepal.

National Astronomy Olympiad 2015: Pre-Registration Available NOW!

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) announced call for pre-registration for the National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 today and will remain open until the announcement of selection examination details. We encouraged all the interested and eligible students for the pre-registration so that you will get an email about the details on the selection exams when available! 

Only Nepalese students born after January 1, 1996 and having studied upto higher secondary studies are eligible to apply for this program.If you are interested for the program and wish to participate, click here to APPLY NOW!



The National Astronomy Olympiad Program is a national educational program designed by Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and ESPRO Foundation to encourage Nepalese students who pursue further studies in Physics,Maths,Astronomy & Space Science.

First Asia Pacific Space Generation Workshop (AP-SGW) 2014 in Japan during November 29-30, 2014!

Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) has announced the first regional regional workshop in Asia Pacific region that will be held in Japan during November 2014. 
The Asia Pacific Regional Space Generation Workshop (AP-SGW) 2014 with a theme "Approaches to promoting Asia-Pacific regional collaboration in the space sector – the next generation perspective"  is a two-day regional workshop for students and young professionals in the Asia–Pacific region in conjunction with the 21st Asia Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF21) held in Yokohama, Japan during November 29-30,2014. It will be co-organized by the Graduate School of System Design and Management, Keio University and supported by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
"It is really exciting to organize such a regional event in Asia Pacific which I dreamt to have since I join SGAC in 2009. I am very proud of our team members for their tiresome work to realize this event in November and special thanks to Yusuke Muraki for taking lead to make it happen", said Suresh Bhattarai,Co-manager of the event and Regional Coordinator of SGAC at Asia Pacific. Mr.Bhattarai is Chairman & CEO at Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) promoting Astronomy,Astrophysics and Space Science Outreach, Education and Research in Nepal.

The objective of the AP-SGW is as follows.
  1. To strengthen the regional network of the students and young professionals in the Asia-Pacific region
  2. To examine and consider key questions in Asia-Pacific region that the regional space community is facing and to provide inputs from the next generation of the space professionals
  3. To allow tomorrow’s space sector leaders in the Asia-Pacific region to have the opportunity to interact with today’s space leaders in the region through the cooperation with APRSAF.
One of the primary components of the Asia-Pacific Space Generation Workshop is the working group sessions. Each delegate is assigned into one of five groups. The groups in the break-out sessions discuss a pertinent space topic, which is guided by Subject matter experts from the field, who will join these working groups to support them with knowledge to make the group discussions more fruitful. The preliminary conclusions of each group are presented to the rest of the delegates on the last afternoon of AP-SGW and the final conclusions are written into reports that are presented at the Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum
The five topics of this year are:

Deadline for applications close on the 31st October 2014 on the official AP-SGW website. Applicants will be asked to provide information on their experience in the space sector and their motivations for applying. Based on applicant's interest and prior experience, the AP-SGW delegates will be selected and then assigned to one of the working groups.  The five AP-SGW working group topics will focus on future regional cooperation in Asia-Pacific region in the space sector. More information on this year's working group topics can be found here.

Current leaders from the space sector in the region will be invited to share their passions and perspectives, as well as contribute to the working groups and debate with delegates on the main topics of the workshop.  Conclusions and recommendations from the working groups will be formally collected in a report, which will be shared throughout the following year at the United Nations, at conferences, and with SGAC's partners and supporters.

Second National Astronomy Olympiad- LOGO COMPETITION 2014-Deadline Extended!!!

Thank you very much for those of you who showed your interested in this competition. We would like to thank all the applicants for their logos prior to the deadline. As we received many request for the extension so that applicant can submit their work after the festival,we decided to extend the submission deadline till Friday, November 7, 2014.

This Festive season, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) in association with Lotus Holdings Pvt. Ltd. brings you 2nd National Astronomy Olympiad- Logo Competition 2014 with an oppertunity to win a cash prize of NRs 5,000!


First National Astronomy Olympiad -Logo Competition 2013 was a great success which was conducted during December 2013. We expect more designers joining us this year with their innovative ideas and creation to become of part of Second National Astronomy Olympiad which will be held during January to June in Nepal.

Do you wish to know how to participate in the competition? Here are the rules and regulations for the competition:

Rules & Regulations:

  • The logo must include the following themes: ASTRONOMY, EDUCATION & NEPAL and should reflect Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015
  • Maximum of five designs can be submitted by a person. Submitted designs must contain the original idea/creation of the designer.  Logos must be created in full colour in JPG formats. The logo specification is width 600 pixels
  • Each design must contain a description of no more than 200 words. Design without description will not be accepted for the competition
  • The deadline for submission is Saturday, 25th October, 2014 Friday, 7th November, 2014
  • The best logo will be awarded 5,000 NRs as a cash price and a certificate
  • The decision of the evaluation committee will be final. The copy-write of the selected logo will be of NASO only
  • The submission must be done through email: info.naso[at]gmail.com
Please note the deadline has been extended till Friday, November 7, 2014! The result will be announced during the second week of November.

RESULT AVAILABLE:National Astronomy Olympiad- Teacher Training 2014

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) is pleasured to announce the result of National Astronomy Olympiad- Teacher Training 2014.

We have received 52 applications  from under graduate students, teachers and communicators from different part of Nepal as well as abroad.  We had very had time to select only five faces from those 52 aspiring and motivated applicant. After the careful review of their application, motitation and engagement in science, we finally decided the five faces as:
  1. Mr. Suman Gautam: Bhadrakali Higher Secondary School, Pokhara, Kaski
  2. Mr. Ashok Timsina: Mahendra Morang Campus, Biratnagar, Morang
  3. Mr. Rajan Prajapati: United Academy, Kmaripati, Lalitpur
  4. Mr. Mahesh Poudel: St. Xavier's College, Maitighar, Kathmandu
  5. Mr. Santosh Parajuli: Central Campus, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Kathmandu
They will participate in the upcoming Astronomy Exposure Camp, November 10-13, 2014 at Homi Bhabha Center For Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India.


One of the selected participant shared his feeling with us as "I am quite gratified to be selected for the National Astronomical Olympiad (NAO)- Teacher’s Training 2014. To know that after implementing whatever I learn from the program back in my country, I will be a driving force for the recognition of Nepal in an international event (Astronomy Olympiad), gives me immense pleasure. Further, to be a part of a student’s journey of discovering their hidden potential through learning by going beyond the conventional text books. I can sure, will be something to be proud of .Thank you!"

APPLY NOW:National Astronomy Olympiad- Teacher Training 2014

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) announces call for application for the teacher training programme that will be conducted during the second week of November 2014. Applicants are requested to fill this form keeping the following points under consideration:
  • Maximum of five teachers will be selected for the programme
  • Applicants should be a current student of M.Sc. Physics or M.Sc. Physics graduate with Astrophysics as his/her major
  • Selected applicants will be obliged to volunteer during the Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 that will be conducted during January-June 2015
  • Applicants are requested to submit their latest CV to info.naso@gmail.com after submitting this form with a Subject: NAO2015-Applicant's Name

There is no registration fees for this training programme. Selected applicants will be responsible for their travel to the training location and back on their own.

Congratulations to All 5 Winners of NAO2014!


National Astronomy Olympiad 2014 (NAO-2014) Organizing Committee has announced the result of NAO-2014, First National Astronomy Olympiad in Nepal.


We would like to congratulate all the winners of NAO2014 and wish them all the best for their performance in 8th International Olympiad in Astronomy & Astrophysics (IOAA) during August 1-11, 2014 in Suceava, Romania.

NAO2014 Organizing Committee has issued a press release on the first astronomy Olympiad Delegation representing Nepal in 8th International Olympiad in Astronomy & Astrophysics (IOAA) in Romania.


The National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO) Programme is jointly designed by Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and ESPRO Foundation to encourage Nepalese students with good foundations in Physics and Mathematics and an interest in Astronomy to pursue their further studies in this field.

A Solemn Meeting To Mark The Cosmonautic Day (April 12) & The 80th Birth Anniversary Of The First Man In Space- Yuri Gagarin

Russian Centre of Science and Culture Kathmandu (RCSC-Kathmandu), Nepal Academy of Science & Technology (NAST), B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory and Science Museum Development Board, Nepal Physical Society, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and Nepal Science Olympiad are jointly organizing a solemn meeting to mark the Cosmonautic Day (April 12) and the 80th Birth Anniversary of the first man in space-Yuri Gagarin at 3:00 PM, April 9, 2014.


If you are interested to take part in this grand celebration of Yuri's Night in Nepal and meet the people from the organizations which have been doing excellent work for S & T in Nepal, you are requested to fill in this form by 5:00 PM, April 8, 2014.

Solar Observation & Photo Exhibition at Jyoti Kunj Secondary School Pokhara!

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) in coordination with Pokhara Astronomical Society (PAS), western chapter, organized one day Astrophoto Exhibition and Solar Observation Session during the Science Exhibition at Jyoti Kunj Secondary School, Pokhara, Nepal. The school management has announced three day celebration of their 25th Anniversary with different programs during January 29-31, 2014.

Quadrantid Meteors Captured from Kathmandu, Nepal!

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) organized Quadrantid Meteor Shower Observation Campaign at Pharping, an ancient city of Kathmandu Valley, nearby Dakshinkali Temple on January 3-4, 2014. A five members team from NASO performed photography session, night sky observation session and solar observation session during the campaign.

The National Astronomy Olympiad Programme is designed by Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and ESPRO Foundation to encourage Nepalese students with good foundations in Physics and Mathematics and an interest in Astronomy to pursue further studies in this field. It involves a four stages process leading to participation of Nepalese team in the International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). This year the IOAA is going to be held in Suceava, Romania, 1-10 August, 2014.
