आठौं राष्ट्रिय एस्ट्रोनोमी ओलम्पियाडको आवेदन आह्वान

सन् २०२१ को लागि संचालन गरिने आठौं राष्ट्रिय एस्ट्रोनोमी ओलम्पियाडको आवेदन आज खुलेको छ। विद्यालयतहका विद्यार्थीहरुको प्रतिभा पहिचान तथा प्रवर्द्धनका लागि सन् २०१४ देखि संचालित कार्यक्रममा यस वर्ष कक्षा ८ देखी १२ सम्मका विद्यार्थीले आवेदन दिन सक्नेछन्। विद्यार्थीको तहगत सिकाइलाई ध्यान दिदै राष्ट्रिय एस्ट्रोनोमी ओलम्पियाड जुनियर र सिनियर गरी दुई विधामा आयोजना गरिनेछ। जस अन्तर्गत कक्षा ८-१० सम्मका विद्यार्थीले जुनियरमा आवेदन दिन सक्नेछन् भने ११-१२ का विद्यार्थीले सिनियरमा आवेदन दिन सक्नेछन्।

ओलम्पियाडको पहिलो चरण/छनौट परिक्षा प्रादेशिक चरणको रुपमा यहि अप्रिल १०, २०२१ (चैत्र २८, २०७७) शनिबार बिहान दिउँसो १२ बजेदेखि २ बजेसम्म इटहरी, जनकपुर, काठमाडौं, पोखरा, बुटवल, सुर्खेत तथा धनगढीमा आयोजना गरिनेछ। ईच्छुक विद्यार्थीहरूले आवेदन फारम आफुलाई पायक पर्ने संबन्धित प्रदेशका हाम्रो संयोजक तथा सदस्यहरुलाई बुझाउन वा हाम्रो कार्यालयमा सिधै इमेल (naso.office@gmail.com) गर्न सक्नेछन्।

प्रदेश चरणमा गरेको प्रदर्शनका आधारमा दोस्रो चरण (राष्ट्रिय चरण) मा संबन्धित प्रदेशका विद्यार्थीहरुलाई सामेल गराइनेछ। यसरी दोस्रो चरणमा उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन गर्ने विद्यार्थीहरुलाई तेर्सो तथा अन्तिम चरणमा सहभागी गराइनेछ। तेस्रो चरणको मूल्याङ्कन मार्फत् सहभागी विद्यार्थीहरूलाई यो वर्ष संचालन हुने अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय एस्ट्रोनोमी तथा एस्ट्रोफ़िसिक्स ओलम्पियाडहरुको लागि सिफारिस गरिनेछ।

NAO2020 Pre-closed Camp Result Published Today!

The result of the Pre-Closed Camp of the 7th National Astronomy Olympiad 2020 senior category, published today! Pre-Closed is the second round of the National Astronomy Olympiad (NAO) program in Nepal. It was held during February 15-March 15, 2020 students selected from the first rounds were provided different assignments. Based on the evaluation of the submissions of the assignments by the participants, 40 students have been selected for the final round i.e. closed camp of NAO.


Selected students will be invited to participate at the Closed Camp session to be held during Jun/July this year. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, we are working on online version of the closed camp.

Students are requested to contact our office for further details. We also request them to check their emails regularly for updates/preparation for the upcoming closed camps sessions.

NASO 5th National Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition Result Announced Today!

We are pleased to announce the winners of our NASO 5th National Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition!

Lets congratulate the winners for their worderful works:
  • First Prize: Safal Shrestha
  • Second Prize: Ayush Pandey
  • Third Prize: Surya Gyawali
The competition was open during September 25-November 15, 2017. Our judges carefully evaluated all the logos. The judging panel included NASO executives, astronomy olympiad committee members and teachers selected for the astronomy olympiad exposure camp which was held in India during last month.

Safal Shrestha, 16 years science student currently studying at class 11 at Capital College and Research Center (CCRC), Koteshwor, Kathmandu, expressed, “It was an unimaginable moment for me to achieve first place in the logo designing competition where many skilled people had participated alongside me. It was the first competition I entered related to graphic design. I had put all my hard work in this design and all the skills I’ve learnt since I laid my hands on Photoshop one and a half years ago. I’d like to thank NASO for making me believe that passion is everything and I’m really delighted to get such opportunity.”

The first prize winning logo will be used as an official logo for our 5th National Astronomy Olympiad 2018.

The winning logos will get cash prize of NRs. 5, 000/-, NRs. 1, 000/- and NRs. 500/- with certificates respectively during a ceremony organized in Kathmandu in 2018.

Third National Astronomy Olympiad 2016 Closed Camp in August!

We are pleased to announce our Third National Astronomy Olympiad 2016 (NAO2016) Closed Camp during August 21-31, 2016! The closed camp will select the top five students as the winners of NAO2016!

Twenty-one students who managed to perform their best during our rigorous evaluation process such as selection exam, interviews and pre-closed camp will be a part of our closed camp session this year. Want to know those twenty-one students? Here you go:
Selected students represent eleven schools including seven schools in Kathmandu Valley, two schools in Chitwan and two schools in Kaski. 

During the closed camp, students will get first hand experience on working with astrophysical theories, problems and their solution. They will also learn data analysis and night sky observation techniques. 

This year, the practical sessions of the closed camp will be held at Everest Science Center Nepal (ESCN) located in near Biratnagar, Nepal. We beleive, it will help our students understand the current status of scienc and technology status and trend in the coutry. ESCN is the only science center in function at the moment which was established in 2001.

The National Astronomy Olympiad Program is a national educational program designed by Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and ESPRO Foundation to encourage Nepalese students who pursue further studies in Physics, Maths, Astronomy & Space Science.

Apply today to be a part of 3rd National Astronomy Olympiad 2016- Nepal!

Nepal Astronomical Society has announce 3rd National Astronomy Olympiad 2016- Nepal! The selection around will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Baratnagar, Birgunj, Chitwan, Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Introduction:
The National Astronomy Olympiad Program is an educational program designed by Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) and ESPRO Foundation to encourage Nepalese students who pursue further studies in Physics, Math, Astronomy and Space Science. This program is a national qualifer for all three International events on astronomy astrophysics for pre-university nepalese students: International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO), Asian Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (APAO) and International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) that will be held during August-December every year.

Eligibility for Application: 
Student who meets the below criteria is eligible the National Astronomy Olympiad 2016- Nepal 
  • Must be Nepali Citizen
  • Must be born on or after January 1, 1997
  • Must not enroll at University level programs like B.Sc. 
Application Procedures:
  • Interested and eligible students can collect the application form at one of the following places paying NRs 100/-.

  • Visit our office our representative mentioned above and submit the application ( Complete application form, copy of SLC certificate or equivalent, Copy of Character Certificate and bank deposit voucher- while making deposit please make sure your write your complete name as same as in your certificates)
  • Attend the selection exam at nearest exam centers (Details on exam centers will be available at our website:www.nepalastronomicalsociety.org and our facebook page: www.fb.com/NepalAstronomicalSociety)

National Delegation of maximum of five students and two team leaders will be facilitated to participate for upcoming 12th Asian Pacific Astronomy Olympiad (12th APAO) during September-December (host country not decided yet), 21st International Astronomy Olympia (21st IAO) during September-October (Bulgaria) and 10th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics (10th IOAA) during December 2016 (India). For more details, please contact us during our office hours.

Note: NAO2016 is open for both class 11 and 12 students! Mr. Bibek Kumar Pandit (St. Xavier's College, Maitighar), one of the winner of NAO2014 and Ms. Shilpa Bhandari (Pentagon International College) one of the winner of NAo2015 was class 11 students during the competition year!!! NASO announces winners of National Astronomy Olympiad 2015-Logo Competition

If you are waiting to know who bagged this year's National Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition, the time for your wait is over! Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) announces winners of Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015- Logo Competition held during September 25- November 7, 2014.

The winning logos for National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015) are:

First Winner at National astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015)-Logo Competition, Designer: Yonjan
Mr. Yonjan Jensun, the first prize winner of the competition ,  after the announcement says, 'I am very thankful towards Nepal Astronomy Society (NASO) for selecting my design as the first winner. It is a great feeling to be part of NASO through my artwork. I hope this might help inspire other youths to be involved in NASO by giving their time for such logo competition, or even volunteer at the NASO Annual Olympiad. National Astronomy Olympiad Logo Competition is a great way to give a chance for emerging young designers to promote their work in Nepal. It also helps to spread word about NASO and their works for promoting astronomy in Nepal since 1980s.'


He will be donating the prize to Maya Universe Academy at Damauli, Nepal. Maya Universe Academy is a youth movement to provide free education in rural Nepal. 

Second Winner at National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015) - Logo Competition

Mr. Shankar Rai, who bagged second position says, 'At the very first beginning when I was participating in this competition, I didn't know whether I become winner? Apparently, my only intention was just to give you my creativity. But eventually it got me stand at second position which is not a small achievement either. If such platform are keep on giving to the youth like us, it doesn't let our creativity and skill die.So, once again it is my great honor to be the second winner.May your effort always encourages youths.'



Third Winner at National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 (NAO2015) - Logo Competition

Mr. Raj Khadgi who is the third winner of the competition highlighted the importance of such competition to encourage youths to showcase their skills and creativity. He says,  'This is my great experience being part of this national level  logo competition. And achieving  third position is really a wonderful moment for me. This kind of competition plays an important role to encourage the growing youths to present their skills and creativity. I want to  thank Nepal Astronomy Society for acknowledging our creativity and hope for such kind of activities in near future also.'

The first, second and third winners will cash prize of NRs. 5,000/- , NRs. 1,000/- and NRs. 500 /- respectively along with certificates and token of love during Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 in Nepal.

National Astronomy Olympiad 2015: Pre-Registration Available NOW!

Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) announced call for pre-registration for the National Astronomy Olympiad 2015 today and will remain open until the announcement of selection examination details. We encouraged all the interested and eligible students for the pre-registration so that you will get an email about the details on the selection exams when available! 

Only Nepalese students born after January 1, 1996 and having studied upto higher secondary studies are eligible to apply for this program.If you are interested for the program and wish to participate, click here to APPLY NOW!

Second National Astronomy Olympiad- LOGO COMPETITION 2014-Deadline Extended!!!

Thank you very much for those of you who showed your interested in this competition. We would like to thank all the applicants for their logos prior to the deadline. As we received many request for the extension so that applicant can submit their work after the festival,we decided to extend the submission deadline till Friday, November 7, 2014.

This Festive season, Nepal Astronomical Society (NASO) in association with Lotus Holdings Pvt. Ltd. brings you 2nd National Astronomy Olympiad- Logo Competition 2014 with an oppertunity to win a cash prize of NRs 5,000!


First National Astronomy Olympiad -Logo Competition 2013 was a great success which was conducted during December 2013. We expect more designers joining us this year with their innovative ideas and creation to become of part of Second National Astronomy Olympiad which will be held during January to June in Nepal.

Do you wish to know how to participate in the competition? Here are the rules and regulations for the competition:

Rules & Regulations:

  • The logo must include the following themes: ASTRONOMY, EDUCATION & NEPAL and should reflect Second National Astronomy Olympiad 2015
  • Maximum of five designs can be submitted by a person. Submitted designs must contain the original idea/creation of the designer.  Logos must be created in full colour in JPG formats. The logo specification is width 600 pixels
  • Each design must contain a description of no more than 200 words. Design without description will not be accepted for the competition
  • The deadline for submission is Saturday, 25th October, 2014 Friday, 7th November, 2014
  • The best logo will be awarded 5,000 NRs as a cash price and a certificate
  • The decision of the evaluation committee will be final. The copy-write of the selected logo will be of NASO only
  • The submission must be done through email: info.naso[at]gmail.com
Please note the deadline has been extended till Friday, November 7, 2014! The result will be announced during the second week of November.
