International Women's Day has surely made the world to realise the importance of women participation in different decision making level as well as research activities! One of the most interesting discussion these days is how we can involve women in the interplanetary exploration such as Mars Missions as the biology of men and women are completely different!
If you look at the women's participation in education and research (which is very rare activity for anyone working in Nepal with full of challenge!), you find many women persuing their higher studies in medical sector such as botany or zoology, etc. But there are only few people who took challenge to study physics and finish their PhDs. Prof. Dr. Nilam Shrestha Pradhan is one of three three female PhD in Physics currently working in Nepal and holds strong vision to expand the horizon of women in physics in coming days!
Women in Astronomy Nepal (WIAN), an initiative that Ms. Manisha Dwa started at NASO, is currently helping the team of female physicists in Nepal in preparation of the hosting of a regional level meeting around March/April 2019! For more details about WIAN and its activities, visit www.womeninastronomy.org .
Interested to be part of the meeting and new initiative of Women in Physics Nepal? Feel free to contact Prof. Dr. Nilam Shrestha Pradhan, Professor & Head at Department of Physics at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus, Ghantaghar, Kathmandu.
Lets press for progress, lets empower and encouarge women and support them for their higher studies in physics/astrophysics/astronomy/space!
Wish you all a very happy International Women's Day 2018!
